Hi,welcome to my world, and to my new and improved blog. I am Linda Blackwell, and I specialize in natural portraits of children, families and pets. My first love is photographing children, but I love natural light photography of any kind. This is where you will find sneak peeks of recent sessions, special announcements, and basically anything else of interest that might be happening. Some photos on my website and blog are taken outside, and some are taken in my natural light studio, but all are taken using only natural light. Mom reminded me that we had a hard time getting her to stay still for 2 seconds back then, and this year wasn’t any different. Everyone always asks me what the hardest age to photograph is, and I would definitely say between 1 and 2 1/2. Even though she was a blur for most of the session, I love the results! Hope mom is happy as well!!

Every year, these two come down to MCALLEN to visit, and I get to do a session with them. Last year was the only time that it didn’t work out, because when they were here, I was having a baby! I think the last session we did was at the beach, and I LOVED those! I was so glad to see them again, they are such great little models. Hope mom loves these!!

I LOVED this engagement session. What more can a photographer ask for….a gorgeous couple, a great location, and subjects that are up for anything!! Oh, and add a military uniform, and a photographer’s day is made!!! I hope they love these as much as I do!

I LOVE doing pet portraits! I have found that dog portraits are VERY similar to photographing children. I recently did a day of dog mini sessions, and I’m really happy with the results. I plan to have another day of mini sessions for dogs soon…if you are interested in having your pet photographed in this style, send me an email & I’ll make sure to contact you when I decide on the date! Regular pet portrait session fees are the same as a regular session fee - prices are listed on my website.

Just got back from a family ski trip to Breckenridge…had an amazing time!! Living in South Texas, I rarely am able to photograph in the snow, but I LOVE snow pictures. I wish I could do actual sessions in the snow regularly, but being a MCALLEN TX photographer, that’s not likely!! So for now, I have to be satisfied with photographing my own kids on ski trips! Here are some of my favorites of my oldest daughter playing in the snow….
If you have done a session with me, you know that I only offer a few specialty items, and mainly focus on prints, collages, and canvases. I really want my clients to choose items that really show off their pictures, and because of that, I choose to limit the products that I offer to ones that fit my style of photography, and that best showcase the images that my clients choose.
This year, I’m really excited to have found this adorable little 3×3 accordian mini album. It fits several pictures on it, and it’s tiny and durable enough to carry around in a purse. It’s great to keep in your office to show off your pictures, or to carry with you. It’s also ideal for grandparent gifts. I just gave my husband one for Valentine’s Day & he loved it! He doesn’t have very much room in his office to display pictures, so this was a perfect way for him to show off his little girls without taking up a lot of space.
I love this time of year - business is good enough to keep me as busy as I want to be, but it also has finally slowed down after the crazy busy holiday season, which allows me to catch up on all of things that got put on the back burner. This session is one of those things. I posted a few pictures from this session back in September, but never finished editing the entire session. This couple needed a handful of pictures to display at their upcoming wedding, so once that was done, I was on to more pressing things, like holiday cards.
Normally I wouldn’t put someone behind in order of proofing, but considering that this is one my best friends, I knew that she understood. So…here are more from Derek and Tracy’s engagement session - I’m happy to report that they are now happily married!
